Inaugural Public-Private Partnership Under ATEC 2024 Focuses on Advancing Technology Innovation and Empowering Technopreneurship
Endorsed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (“MOSTI”), Wellous Group Limited (“Wellous”) has partnered with the Centre of Regional Strategic Studies (“CROSS”) and the Southeast Asia Research Centre for Humanities (“SEARCH”), two independent Malaysian think tanks, and key government agencies under MOSTI, to co-organise the inaugural 2024 APAC Technopreneurship Empowerment Conference (“ATEC 2024”). The conference will be held on August 8th, 2024, at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur.
ATEC 2024 is designed to advance technology innovation and technopreneurship through strategic collaboration between the government and industry, in line with MOSTI’s primary objectives. The conference will focus on cultivating a robust ecosystem for science, technology, and innovation, providing a platform for knowledge exchange, and empowering technopreneurs to leverage emerging technologies for entrepreneurship, while enhancing regional exposure for Malaysian innovators.
The strategic partnership formed for ATEC 2024 includes collaborations with several government agencies under MOSTI, namely NanoMalaysia Berhad, the Malaysia Space Agency (MYSA), Bioeconomy Corporation, and Cradle Fund Sdn. Bhd. (CRADLE). This partnership aims to foster innovation and promote technopreneurship, signifying a collaborative effort to drive technological innovation and empower regional technopreneurship development across Asia Pacific. Additionally, the Malaysia-China Kuantan International Logistics Park Development Sdn Bhd (MCKILP) has also joined as a strategic partner.
The partnership underscores the importance of public-private collaboration in driving socio-economic development and fostering an ecosystem conducive to technopreneurship through joint research projects, policy dialogues, and capacity-building programmes. Each organisation brings unique strengths and expertise, ensuring a balanced and collaborative approach to advancing initiatives that will amplify collective impact and achieve shared goals.
“We believe this conference will be one of the most pivotal events in the region, firmly establishing Malaysia as an influential hub that connects Malaysian technopreneurs to the broader regional technopreneurship landscape, while positioning Malaysia as a market leader and a major influencer in the region,” said YB Tuan Lee Chean Chung, Chairman of CROSS, at the press conference today.
Ian Neo, Chief Executive Officer of SEARCH, added, “The introduction of ATEC 2024 provides a strategic avenue for experts and stakeholders from across the region to explore new synergies between industries and gain first-hand knowledge and insights from industry forerunners. We believe there are vast opportunities from untapped potentials that we can harness through this conference.”
“We are excited to embark on this collaborative journey with our strategic partners from both the private and public sectors, in alignment with our mission to promote innovative and tech-enabled platforms for health and wellness awareness,” said Mr. Andy Tan, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wellous. “This partnership underscores our commitment to driving positive impact in the region by harnessing the power of innovation and collaboration. We are eager to see the new ideas and connections that will emerge from this event, and we are confident that these meaningful connections will propel Malaysian technopreneurs to global success.”
